One of the common vices nowadays that is hard for people to quit from is smoking. Smokers say that smoking removes stress. But whatever reason they say, it doesn’t change the fact that smoking has a bad effect on every person’s health. Smoking cigarettes has a great effect on personal development. Other people don’t want to get near smokers because of the smoke and their smell.

Smoking can weaken the human body. It can also cause bad breath or unpleasant odour because smoke sticks on clothes. Smoking also has a great effect on a person’s lungs. People can get lung cancer from smoking and there are lots of cases of death that involves lung cancer.

If you want to have a healthy body, you need to quit smoking immediately. Smokers are having a hard time removing cigarettes from their lives. Sometimes, they just realise to quit smoking when they already have sickness. The best thing to do is to motivate yourself to quit smoking. If you don’t know how, read the tips below.

Here are some tips on how to motivate yourself to quit smoking through personal development:

Start quitting

Yes! This is obvious. You need to start quitting immediately. It is hard for smokers to quit smoking in an instant. All you need to do is quit slowly. Limit the cigarette that you smoke each day until you totally remove it. For example, you can consume one pack of cigarette every day. Make it half for few days and lessen it until you get rid of your vice.

Imagine you have a lung cancer

Imagine you have lung cancer. What will your family feel if you died? Do you want to leave your kids without seeing them grow up? What will your wife/husband do if you die? Do you want your family to live without you? You need to think of what will happen to you in the future if you continue to smoke cigarettes. You definitely don’t want to die young.

Smell yourself

As I’ve mentioned in the introduction, some people don’t like the smell of cigarettes and sometimes people won’t talk to you because you have a bad odour or bad breathe. Your scent also has a great effect on a job interview. Hygiene is also one of the things that an interviewer will look on a person. There are times that you can smell the scent of cigarette on other smokers but you don’t smell yourself.

Keep away from other smokers

One of the best things to do to totally quit smoking is to keep away from other smokers. There are times that when you start to quit smoking, you will feel the urge to light a cigarette when you see people smoking. When you see smokers, all you need to do is divert your attention on other things. In that way, you won’t be influenced by them.

Keep yourself busy

You can also keep yourself busy so that you’ll forget about smoking. You can do a lot of things that will make you busy. If you always smoke after a long day of work, just chew a gum to keep your mouth busy and to get rid of cigarettes. You can do a lot of things that can make you happy and busy.

Enroll in a fitness gym

If you enroll to a fitness gym, since you want to have a healthy body, you will surely quit smoking. As I’ve mentioned, smoking can weaken the body. You won’t be able to lift a barbell or dumbbell if you are feeling weak. Enrolling into a fitness gym will also keep you busy. You can go into a gym before or after your job. You will definitely forget about smoking in that way.

THINK ABOUT Second-hand smoke

Second-hand smoke can also cause people sickness. Just think about it. When you smoke, your child can inhale the smoke that you produce. You definitely don’t want your child to get sick. Just by thinking about the people around you and thinking about their health, you might want to quit smoking. You definitely enjoy smoking but people around you are suffering.

THINK ABOUT SITUATIONS WHEN Your family DOESN’T kiss you or hug you

Since you have a bad odour because of cigarettes, there are times that your wife won’t kiss you. Your kids won’t also hug you because you smell bad. If you want to live a happy and sweet life, you must quit smoking for your own sake and your family’s sake. Just think about a life without hugs and kisses from your family.

If you quit smoking and you already have a healthy body, you will be able to live long and do happy things for more years. Remember that smoking can shorten your life. Good health means happy life.

People do anything that will make them happy or satisfied. And the most common thing that happens is they spend so much money on things that can make them happy. Learning how to save money has a great effect on every individual’s personal development. Most people who always spend money on their vices or other things usually have no savings. For example, you spend all your money on things that are not important. When the time comes that you need to buy an important thing, you have no choice but to borrow money from other people.

Even if you are spending money for your own interest, you can be able to save money. If you are saving money, you won’t have a big problem when the time comes that you need money for some important things. For example, you need to repair or change the ceiling of your house. You won’t have a problem on thinking where to get the money for the expenses because you have savings. Basically, saving money will make your life easy especially on some unexpected expenses.

Here are some tips on how to motivate yourself to save money with personal development:

Save a little

As I’ve mentioned in the introduction, even if you are spending money for your own interest, you can still able to save money. The most common mistake of a person is when they think that they can’t save money because they don’t have much money. The best way to increase your savings is to save a little but often. If you don’t start on saving money, you will just forget about it and you will just continue on spending. If you start saving money little by little but often, there are times that you won’t notice that your money is getting bigger. The more you see that your savings is increasing or rising, the more you get motivated to add more or save more.

Create a spreadsheet

If you are really willing to save money, you can create a spreadsheet for your savings. If you create a spreadsheet, you can estimate the money that you save and the exact money that you put in your bank every week or every month. You can also search for spreadsheet online that sums up all the savings for you. If you have a spreadsheet, you don’t need to sum all your savings in your head. You can also set the amount of money that you save every week or every month. For example, for the 1st week, you need to put $10 in your bank and it increases every week. You can immediately identify the amount of money that you save for the year if you do it. Make sure that you can afford to put the money that you set for each week.

Have a goal

This is one of the best things that you need have to be motivated on saving money. Having a goal on saving money can be a great help to keep you motivated. For example, you want to buy a new phone; you will definitely put money in your bank instead of spending it on some other things. There are also times when you already have the money that you need to buy your phone, but you will forget about the reason why you save money in the first place and you’ll just continue on putting money on your bank.

Choose inexpensive hobbies

Most people spend money on buying meals or other stuffs to treat themselves after a long day of hard work. Think of other things that can remove your stress or boost your mood without spending so much money. You can organise some fun things to do in your house with your friends or family. Sometimes people spend money when they are bored or lonely. You can watch a movie with your friends or family or buy some ingredients at the market and try cooking a meal that you never cooked before. There are lots of things you can do to entertain yourself or ending up the day without spending money.

Read finance blogs

Reading finance blogs can also motivate you to save money. You can get some tips and good financial habits on reading finance blogs. It is really interesting to know the lives of other people and see what they are doing to save money. You can also create your own finance blog and share some of your own tips and advice with other people. Creating your own finance blog will not only help you connect with other people that have the same way of thinking as you, but it will also motivate you to continue putting or saving money on your bank so that you can feel proud when you share how good you are doing with other people.

Look for support

If you really have a problem on saving money and you think you need an advice, don’t feel embarrassed to look for support from other people. All you need to do is to hear advice from a person who is an expert on financial matters. A financial expert will definitely come up with a plan that will help you on any money problem.

When you started studying or going to school or even when you are still a child, you definitely dreamed of being successful in your life. You definitely want to work in a company that gives a high salary to every employee and you will surely give everything you got for your career development. Starting from a normal employee, you will possibly be promoted and you will be given a chance to handle a team.

When you are handling a team, you need to be good on your team and you need to motivate them. When your team is doing well, your boss will surely praise your team or sometimes give you a prize for your hard work. If you show a good performance on your job, you will help your company to develop. If you and your team don’t perform well, you will surely be demoted or worse, you will get fired. There are also times when even if you perform well but your team didn’t, you will surely get a bad impression from your boss. Always remember that you are the leader of your team, so it’s all up to you how to make your team perform well.

Here are some tips on how to motivate your own team through career development:

Be a good example

The first thing you need to do is to be a good example on your team members. Since you are the leader, your team members will definitely imitate everything that you do. If you show a good example or performance on your team, they will surely do everything that you do. You need to be serious on what you do. If your team members noticed that you are just fooling around, they will definitely lose motivation.

Improve Listening skills

You also need to develop your listening skills. Make sure that your team members are listening on everything that you discuss especially when it comes to some strategies on improving your performance. As I’ve mentioned in the “Be a Good Example” section, you need to show to your team that you are serious.

Explain Company Goal

In order for your team to get serious and get motivated, you need to explain company goal. You need to explain the purpose of your company. For example, your company sells sandwich, you can tell your team that your company’s purpose is to make the best sandwich in your region. Knowing that you have a competitor will definitely keep you motivated because you want to beat them.

Be fair

You also need to be fair. Favouritism is not allowed on a team. Don’t allow your personal likes and dislikes affect your leadership. For example, there are some in your team who are not productive. You shouldn’t be one sided and shouldn’t always give your attention only to the members that are productive. You also need to motivate and talk to others. Always remember that you are a team. If you just give your time on some members, other will definitely be lazy on working.

Don’t be angry on small things

In order to make your team members respect you, you also need to respect them. Don’t be angry on small stuffs. If your team members made a mistake, you need to ask them calmly about their reason or the problem. For example, one of your team members is late, don’t shout or get mad. Ask him/her why he/she is late and tell him/her that you expect him/her to be on time the next day. Always remember that your team members are human beings that have weaknesses and strengths. They are not machines.

Set rewards

You can also give rewards to every team member that performed well for the year or month. That strategy will definitely keep your team motivated and perform with their fullest. You need to set a condition before they gain the reward. For example, you will give reward to the employee who will have no lates or absences for the month. Employees are working to earn money for their living. They will surely be happy if they gain additional rewards.

Be friendly

Yes! As a leader, you need to be kind and friendly on your team members. Your team will definitely hate you or get scared of you if you are always angry or very strict. All you need to do is talk calmly, tell your team that they can ask freely if they don’t know a certain thing about the company, or talk directly to you if they have concerns. Sometimes, the attitude of the team reflects on the leader. If you are friendly, you will gain respect on your team.

Talk about the problem

You also need to talk about the problems about your team or about their performance. Talk to the employees who are not doing well or are doing wrong. You need to correct them and give them some tips on how to improve their performance or how to do it right. You also need to talk to the employees who are doing great. Praising them will help them maintain their good performance. When an employee continues on doing wrong things, it is your power to terminate him/her. Remember that you are in one team, if one member is always doing wrong, it will affect the whole team.

Every person use what he/she has studied on career development. When a person graduated in college, he/she starts to find job to earn money for the everyday living. He/she starts to earn and save money to buy his/her needs and wants. There are people who quit on their job and just start their own business. People choose to start their own business because working in a company brings more stress than running their own business. There are also some people who choose to work in a company because of the thinking that a business is like gambling.

Most businesses don’t succeed because owners have lack of knowledge on running a business. That’s the reason why people don’t dare to try establishing their own business because they think that they’ll just waste money and common thing that happen is they just find a company wherein they can work.

If you want to establish your own business, the first thing you need to do is to motivate yourself. Nothing will happen if you just think about other businesses that fail, it’s still up to you how you will run your business to make it successful.

Here are some tips on how to motivate yourself to start your own business through career development:

Be sure on what you want and why you like it

You definitely want to run a business that you like. For example, you love clothing; you may then want to start a clothing business. You need to be sure on the type of business that you like and make sure that you got knowledge on the products or services that you sell. You surely won’t enjoy selling products or offer services that you don’t like and the possible thing that will happen is you will quit doing your business. When you choose the type of business (products or services) that you like, you also need to have reason why you like it. Most people choose the products or services that they sell or offer because of the numbers of stores in their area. For example, there are only few stores in your area that sells clothes; you will definitely want to start a clothing business.

HAVE Knowledge about your market

You will more likely choose a business that you have knowledge about. Having knowledge about the business that you will establish will be a big help on making it successful. For example, a customer asks you about a certain product, you can immediately answer the questions and you can provide lots of information about a certain product. If you don’t know what to say about your product to your customer, the possible thing that will happen is your customer will transfer to other stores that can provide an answer. Your customers will definitely trust you if you provide additional tips or advice when they are buying clothes on your store.

Know the obstacles

The next things that you need to think about are the obstacles. Before you decide on the business that you like, think about the number of your competitors on your area. For example, you plan to start a beauty product business but there are already lots of stores that sell beauty products in your area. The possible thing that will happen is you won’t be able to sell many products because your competitors already own the trust of the people in your area. It will definitely be hard for you to make their customers yours. You also need to check the place where you will put up your store. Make sure that you establish it in a place where there are lots of people like near the park or much better if you build it in a city.

Set a timeline

After you chose the business that you like and after you thought about the obstacles, the next thing you need to think about is when you will start it. You need to set a timeline for your business. If you set a timeline, you will definitely be motivated to achieve your goal and get it done on the given time. If you just think about it and you are not sure when to establish your business, there are times that you will become lazy and forget about your business. If you are busy on other things, you will sometimes forget about your other plans especially if you are focused on other things. All you need to do is mark your calendar on the day that you plan to start your business. In that way, you will stay focused on it.

Know the price

When you plan to establish your own business, you need to have a budget. Your budget can tell if your business is possible to be established or not. But before you set a budget, you need to know how much it will cost you to build your business including the products that you will sell. The more you invest, the more money you will earn. Also, make sure that you gain profit on your investments. You also need to look for suppliers. For example, you are planning to sell clothes, make sure you have a supplier of clothes.

Gain support

This is the thing that you need to have in order to be motivated on starting your own business. If you gain support from your friends and family members, you will definitely be focused on achieving your goals or dreams. If your family and friends support you on your plans, they will definitely give you a hand or will help you to achieve it. Sometimes family and friends can even support you on your financial needs. Sometimes it is hard to focus and dream about something if no one supports you. So it is important to gain support on what you want to do.

Learning is the main key to achieve or reach your goal. The knowledge that you learn can help on your personal development. Every individual wants to be a successful person in the future that is why people do everything just to achieve their dreams. In order to achieve your dreams like being a great businessperson in the future, a professional engineer, etc., you need to learn all the things that you need for your dream. Since the day you were born, you start to learn different things just by seeing, hearing, and listening things.

When children are already in the right age, their parents send them to school to expand their knowledge. Entering school is the first step for a person who wants to achieve his or her dreams. If you have useful knowledge in your brain, you definitely won’t have a hard time reaching your goals or dreams. If you are very lazy to go to school, you won’t be able to reach your dream because you’ll be lacking knowledge or intelligence. All you need to do is motivate yourself to focus on your studies.

Here are some tips on how to motivate yourself to focus on your studies:

Study Hard

This is the first thing that you need to do, you probably know what will happen if you don’t study hard. In school, you will know how knowledgeable or bright you are by your grades. If you receive low grades, you still need to focus on your studies. For example, you are in college and you take an engineering course. If you don’t focus on things that provide knowledge about engineering, you won’t be able to expand your knowledge on the course that you take. Most students lose interest on studying because of their vices like playing online games and other things that makes them temporarily happy. For example you love playing online games, make sure that you will still go to school and just play online games when you have free time. Always remember to separate studies and vices.

Start Reading

Yes! Reading books is one of the best ways to gain knowledge aside from listening to your teachers. Every school provides every student books that they can take home. In that way, students can still review or study the topic that their teacher discussed. In order to absorb every word, sentence, or information that you read, you need to expand your vocabulary. There are times when you won’t fully understand a sentence if you don’t know the meaning of a certain word. The best thing you need to do when you are reading books is to have a dictionary with you. The reason why some students stop reading books is because they think books are hard to understand. If you gain lots of knowledge from reading books, you will be able to answer the tests that will come. For example, you already read your book about science that your teacher gave you, when the time comes that your teacher asks questions about the topic that hasn’t been discussed, you’ll definitely be able to answer the question because you already read the book.

Do your homework

Even if you are a fast learner, you still need to do your homework. By doing your homework, you can test the capacity of your brain on how long it can hold every information that you gain. There are some students who don’t remember other things or information that they gain when they shift their focus on other things. For example, your teacher has discussed a lesson about science. Then after science, she discussed lessons about math. It is common for some students in this scenario to forget lessons in science because they have shifted their focus on math. All you need to do is improve your memorisation skills. In that way you can still remember other information that will come. You will also get low grades on a certain subject if you don’t do your homework. You will definitely be motivated to focus on your studies because you will see your improvements.

Listen to your teacher

When you are in the middle of the discussion, you need to listen to your teacher. Teachers can teach everything you need to learn. If you don’t listen on what your teacher is discussing, you won’t learn anything. There are people who learn easily through listening or reading. Your teacher will possibly ask you questions if he or she noticed that you are not listening or paying attention. You will also be able to work with your homework easily if you listen to your teacher. Also, don’t be afraid to ask questions to your teacher if you don’t understand a certain thing. Your teacher will be to answer your question.

Explore

If you are not contented on what you learn on the discussion of your teacher, you might want to explore or learn other things in order to expand your knowledge. As I’ve said above, you should start reading books. Reading books can help you to expand your vocabulary and you reading skills. If you are in college, it’s ideal to focus on books about the course that you are taking. You can also try reading other books that is related on your course. The best place for reading different kinds of books is the library. You can ask the librarian about the books that you like; in that way you, won’t spend so much time searching for books.

Ask your classmates

In school, you won’t enjoy your day if you don’t talk to your classmates. Studying alone is sometimes boring. You can ask your friends or classmates to do brainstorming; in that way, you and your classmates can share knowledge. You definitely have one classmates that you want to surpass (it will definitely keep you motivated). If your rival got a higher grade than you, don’t be discouraged and just study hard to outshine him or her. Having a goal in school will definitely give you motivation.

We all have our own unique dreams. We dream to be successful. To become rich. To own a luxury car or to become famous here on earth. We dream big for our future and for our retirement. We want to live a happy life with someone special, raise successful children and enjoy good health. When we start thinking about how to achieve our goals, a good place to start is with our own Personal Development.

One reason we work hard throughout our lives is to see our dreams come true. Many times our goals can’t be reached with the help of others. It’s only through our own hard work and commitment that we achieve what we set out to accomplish. The feeling that comes with knowing you’ve accomplished something is unexplainable! There are lots of positive ways to make your dreams come true. Some of them involve hard work!

Lots of people have given up on trying to reach their goals because no matter how hard they try, their dreams are still out of reach. There are lots of negative factors that can affect us in achieving our dreams. One of these is losing someone or something. Losing your inspiration can be a big factor by making you want to stop and give up. Maybe you lose someone close to you, or you have terrible nightmares from the past that traumatize you, making it difficult to continue your journey.

If you have a burning desire in your heart, there is nothing that can stop you from making your dreams come true. Start with your Career Development. This can help you reach your dreams by forming the foundation of your life, your career.

10 Tips on how to achieve your dreams

BURNING DESIRE

Raging like a wild fire, your dreams must be converted into a burning desire in the bottom of your heart. Picture your dreams like fire spirits sent on a mission to help you become whatever you want to be. Your burning desire can be your own power source to help you endure problems and overcome challenges. If you have this burning desire, there is nothing to stop you because you are determined to be successful.

In addition to your deep desire, there are other things that you can use to inspire your fighting spirit, but whatever motivation you have; your bursting burning desire will be the greatest source of your passion in achieving your dreams.

BE SPECIFIC

As human beings, we have the capacity to dream about many things. Everything we want to do cannot be achieved in a single instant, so be specific on what you want most from life, and concentrate on these things. It’s not bad to dream about lots of different things, but try to set one major goal and work steadily toward it. Your other dreams can help you, however be careful they don’t distract you or slow your progress toward your final goal. It’s important to focus on what’s most important to you, an avoid worrying about unimportant details.

MAKE A PLAN

It’s important to have a plan to help you achieve your dream. It helps you stay organized and you can monitor your progress from any point in the process. Backup plans are also important. If your initial plan fails, you can easily use your backup plan and continue toward your goal.

MOTIVATION

You need to be motivated to reach your dreams. Your motivation and your burning desire are great indications of your fighting spirit. Motivation is the force that makes you stand up and reach high, even if you get knocked down. People are motivated by different things. Guys who work out in a gym are motivated in a positive direction to build strength and endurance. It is important to use your positive motivation to achieve your dreams.

SET SHORT TERM GOALS

We all know that achieving our dreams takes time. Setting short term goals is a simple, yet effective way to achieve your goal. This method allows you to stay on the path of achieving your dreams and becoming whatever you want to be. Short term goals are a useful and efficient way to organize your progress. They are a step by step process of slowly reaching several smaller goals on the road to achieving success.

VISUALIZE

Visualization can help you figure out what will happen next when you are working toward your dream. Imagine you are a successful man, driving a red sports car. Or imagine you are dating someone special. These are examples of achievement visualization. It can give you the momentum of achieving your dreams. When you are done with the visualization, you are inspired to do more, and to do your best to achieve. The power of visualization can, in a short period of time, help you reach your dreams.

BE CONFIDENT

Be confident that you can achieve your dreams because you can! You can actually have what you desire if you have full dedication and if you are confident that you can succeed. Confidence is what makes you stand up and do what you must do in order to achieve your dreams.

DO IT NOW

If you can do it now, why wait for tomorrow? Do it now!

This is how you will achieve your dreams, no matter what. With these easy tips you can achieve your dreams and be successful. Although it requires hard work and time, all these struggles are worth it when you finally achieve your dream.

Motivation is a key element in getting what we want. A big part of our Personal Development is being aware of what we want and being inspired to achieve it.

Lack of motivation is a common problem for many people who struggle with their weight. Being overweight is not easy. People who are obese experience discrimination, bullying, and negative treatment by others that leads to feelings of insecurity. This can affect the overweight person’s thoughts and well-being.

An overweight person should not be made fun of or laughed at, because these people experience many problems in their everyday life. In some cases, even their career development might be adversely affected by their weight. It is only a very cruel and judgmental person that would speak harshly to, or treat another individual disrespectfully because of their weight.

Some overweight people are on a cruel diet all day long. The truth is, they eat harsh words for breakfast, feast on insecurities at lunch, and they eat really bad jokes for dinner. This situation leads to depression and frustration because they feel they are different from normal people.

This may seem like it’s not a big deal for most of us, but we need to remember that overweight people are human, and have feelings that can be easily hurt. If someone who is overweight decides to try to lose weight, they may feel like they will need a miracle to help them. Some research has shown the experience of being bullied and discriminated against provides the needed motivation for overweight men to lose fat and pump some iron at the gym!

Losing weight is not just about having different exercises to do and following new diet routines. Your motivation to lose weight is also significant because it will drive your desire to do more for yourself to lose weight. Losing weight takes time, but the list below can be your guide to get fit.

9 Tips to motivate yourself in losing weight

MAKE A REALISTIC GOAL

To start, set a goal of where you want to be. Being overweight is tough, but you can also be tough, just like the guys from Spartans. If you want to see slow but steady progress, you can set small, short term goals in weight loss. What is your goal when you exercise? You can have different goals as you workout, also. This will keep you motivated and will help your weight loss program.

JOIN A TEAM OR A CLASS

Joining a team or class that works out to lose weight is another strategy you can try. Feel free to enter these groups because, just like you, the people who take these classes struggle with their weight too. You can form common bonds and friendships, since each and every one of you is connected in your desire to succeed. By surrounding yourself with these kinds of people, you will feel more confident and together, you can lose weight.

HAVE A PARTNER

If you’re too shy to join a team or a class, you can have a single partner. The advantage to this is that you are comfortable with each other because there are just two of you. You can also build a supportive friendship by getting together often to work out and exercise. It’s important that whoever your partner is, you’re comfortable with each other. The encouragement and support you give each other will help you be successful in your weight loss.

HAVE A TRAINER

Having a trainer is another smart way to deal with weight loss and exercise. The main advantage of having a trainer is that he knows what to do in order to lose weight the proper way. Having a trainer allows you to lose weight in different ways. A trainer can give you advice on your diet; what foods you must eat and the foods that you must avoid. Some exercises could lead to injuries if not done correctly. Having a trainer can prevent problems like these, and provide solutions to other needs you might have.

JOIN MARATHONS OR OTHER SPORTS

Joining a sports team or a marathon can help you burn fat. When you burn fat, you are using calories and of course, losing weight. Participating in sports will make you sweat, and this is an effective way to lose weight in a natural way. If your body is always active, if you are always running or moving, chances are you will naturally lose weight.

SET REWARD

Setting a reward for yourself is also a smart way to help you lose weight. Some people are motivated just by seeing their weight go down. They are pleased because their clothes fit better, or they can breathe more easily or they receive compliments from other people. A reward doesn’t have to be about buying something expensive. Whatever reward you want to give yourself is fine, if it will keep you motivated in losing weight.

SET A PUNISHMENT

If you fail or violate some part of your routine, you can punish yourself, although this might make you look crazy! That’s not what this idea is all about, though. Punishing yourself means for example, that you will pass up something pleasant, like you will not eat your favorite dish today. It will help you to avoid the same mistake again and re-focus on your program.

TELL YOUR FAMILIES OR FRIENDS ABOUT IT

Telling your family and friends what you are doing and why, will help you gain their support. If they know you’re trying to lose weight, they can offer their support and encouragement.

Being overweight is not a joke. Try to maintain a healthy weight or, if you are overweight, try to lose the excess weight you’re carrying. Stay motivated and take pride in yourself no matter how much you weigh.
